Your Airbnb Owner's Closet: 10 Essential Items to Keep Stocked

As an Airbnb host, having a well-stocked owner's closet can be a game-changer for your rental property. It ensures you're always prepared for guest needs and maintenance issues. Here are 10 important items to consider keeping on hand:

1. Extra Linens and Towels

Always have spare sets of sheets, pillowcases, and towels. This allows for quick changes between guests and replacements for any damaged items.

2. Cleaning Supplies

Stock a variety of cleaning products, including all-purpose cleaners, glass cleaner, and disinfectants. Don't forget to include sponges, microfiber cloths, and paper towels.

3. Basic Tools

A small toolkit with essentials like a screwdriver set, pliers, and a hammer can be invaluable for quick fixes.

4. Light Bulbs

Keep an assortment of light bulbs that fit all the fixtures in your property. This allows for easy replacement in between quests if the need arises.

5. Batteries

Stock various sizes of batteries for remotes, smoke detectors, and other battery-operated devices in your rental, you never know when these will come in handy.

6. Toilet Paper and Paper Towels

Always have extra rolls on hand. Running out of these essentials can lead to unhappy guests.

7. Air Filters

Keep spare air filters for your HVAC system. Regular changes improve air quality and system efficiency.

8. Basic First Aid Kit

Select a first aid kit that includes bandages, antiseptic wipes, and over-the-counter pain relievers. While guests often bring their own, it's good to have backups.

9. Spare Keys or Key Cards

Have extra sets of keys or key cards for your property. This helps in case of lockouts or lost keys.

10. Instruction Manuals and Property Guide

Keep a folder with instruction manuals for all appliances and electronics in your rental. Also consider having back up property guides or welcome books with Wi-Fi passwords, house rules, local recommendations, and emergency contact information.

By keeping these items in your owner's closet, you'll be prepared for many common situations that arise in short-term rentals. This preparedness not only helps maintain your property but also contributes to a smooth and enjoyable experience for your guests.
